A Franco-British project with “les Amis de La Martinerie”

“Les Amis de La Martinerie” are now partners on a project initiated by Sheila Witherington, moderator of the Facebook page "Américans love Châteauroux-Déols", and Samuel Exley, founder and director of "Les Trobadors", a school based in Argenton-sur-Creuse, with branches in both Le Blanc and Châteauroux.

This project aims to create, on a tablet and in English, a tour of the city of Chateauroux (and then of “La Martinerie”) following the steps of the Americans, back in the days. A kind of treasure hunt that will be used by the students of "Les Trobadors” to learn English and by English speaking tourists to uncover Chateauroux and the Indre department.

A first meeting, early June, between Samuel Exley and Jean-Jacques Bérenguier, president of “Les Amis de La Martinerie” was the starting point of this project and collaboration.

His presentation and the first recording session with people who experienced firsthand, the presence of the Americans in the Indre department, took place on the “la maison départementale de la mémoire militaire” premises, on the “La Martinerie” site.

Each of them had an opportunity to review an anecdote or an event associated with a few selected places.

A first session that will, most likely, not be the last since all the participants enjoyed the moment and were very excited by the project.
