“Les Amis de la Martinerie” had the pleasure of welcoming the "Les Anciens Aérodromes" association during their visit to the Indre department.
The visit was led by Didier Dubant, our volunteer historian and also a member of the visiting association.
After discovering the former Vineuil airfield (36) and its only remaining vestige, the water tower, and then visiting the Déols airbase from the American era, the members of the association came to La Martinerie for a tour focusing on the aviation between 1915 and 1951.
Welcomed by Jean-Jacques Bérenguier at the entrance of the CNTS (National Center for Technical Training) for a quick tour of the equipment still present in this area, they went, with Didier Dubant, to discover the old equipment in the southern zone (outside the CNTS area).
They concluded their Châteauroux trip with a visit to “la Maison départementale de la mémoire militaire” and the inauguration of a new display case, which we will discuss in more details in the next news.
