Chantale SOBANIA, born on September 13, 1957 in La Martinerie, from the marriage of an American man and a French woman, wanted to see the building where she was born.
At the initiative of Evelyne MARIOU and Guylaine SELLERON, her first cousins from Fléré-La-Rivière and Esvres-sur-Indre, her dream has come true.
On Wednesday, July 19, “Les Amis de La Martinerie”, Françoise, Dominique and Jean-Jacques, had the pleasure of welcoming Chantale CHIAPETTO, her married name, Steve her spouse, Christine et Danièle their two daughters, accompanied by their two cousins.
The visit was an opportunity for her to discover, "with great emotion and with a bouding pulse", the building which housed the delivery rooms and, within “la maison départementale de la mémoire militaire”, the rooms comemmorating the american presence in the Indre department between 1917 and 1919 then between 1951 and 1967.
A visit full of surprises which delighted a family with very strong ties in the Indre department.
Thanks to Françoise Lavenu for her availability and the quality of her translations.
