Based on the recommandation of his son Thibaud Lanxsade Prefect of the Indre deparment, the admiral accompanied by his grand grand son Guilaume came to discover the excellent work accomplished by the volunteers of Les Amis de la Martinerie, to create the departemental house of the military memory of Indre department.

Welcomed by the president, he was impressed on the one hand ,by the important military past of this deparment by the very present memory of the American presence at la Martinerie, Deols, Issoudun but also Diors and Montierchaume, and on the other hand by the work carried out by the volonteers to renovate and the bring up to life the old building which housed the engineering service of the american army, then the liaison mission between the french army, and the after the departure of the americans , by the master tailor and the master shoemaker.

To resume part of the guest book signed by the admiral “”this museum is infinitely valuable in helping to transmit the values that history teaches us. I can therefore only congratulate those who worked voluntarily and with passion to make this house of military memory a place charged with souvenir of a glorious past”.
