On the occasion of the ceremony organized on June 6, 2024 at the Valencay castle, by the Prefect of the Indre department and the President of the Departmental Council, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of D-day, “Les Amis de La Martinerie” lent five flags which are normally displayed in the flag room of “la maison départementale de la mémoire militaire”.
These five flags were entrusted to “Les Amis de La Martinerie”by the last survivors of the French resistance associations of the Indre department.
These included:
- The flag of the Departmental Union of Volunteer Resistance Fighters, carried by Henri CHAMARD.
- The flag of the Indre section of the National Group of Refractories and Maquisards carried by Michel CLAUZADE.
- The flag of the Association of Voluntary Resistance Fighters of the Indre department carried by Daniel RAFFIER.
- The flag of the Indre section of the National Union of War Escapees and Passeurs carried by Pascal DOUAI.
- The flag of the Association of the Former Members of the Leclerc Division from the Indre Department carried by Yves POURNIN.
A very beautiful ceremony. We extend our congratulations to the hundred flag bearers present at this event, and particularly to those who agreed, at the request of “Les Amis de La Martinerie”, to carry the flags of the older and now extinct associations.
A special thank you to Jean-Pierre DAUGER who had the mission of coordinating the operation on behalf of “Les Amis de La Martinerie”.
