It is on Wednesday January 6th, 2021, that occurred the signature ceremony for the donation by Philippe et Sylviane, 2 members of our association, of a TP3 to “Les Amis de la Martinerie”.
This vehicle is the 4 wheels drive version of the “Super Goélette SG2”. It was used by the military from 1969 under the name TP3, until its retirement under its new name TRM 1200 (Toutes Roues Motrices / All-Wheel drive; 1.200 metric ton payload capacity).
Van used at first by the gendarmerie as a sanitary vehicle or for transmission (24 Volts electric equipment), it was also used for transport by the gendarmerie, the army and the air force (For troops in charge of air force base protection).
In 1986, the army bought at low cost more than 1000 of these vehicles from Renault, as they were trying to get rid of them. This purchase allowed the army to complete its stock of older SUMB (Simca Unic Marmon Bocquet) while waiting for the new TRM 2000.
