Despite the bad weather conditions, nearly a hundred participants were present for the traditional Patron Saints' Day, coupled this year, at the request of the department's former Legionnaires, with the commemoration of the battle of Camerone.
After the memorial mass celebrated in the Notre Dame des Ailes chapel in Diors by Father Jaouanet, parish priest of Déols, and led by the choir of the Sainte Marie de Déols parish under the direction of Odile Gilbert and the reading of the prayer of the legionnaire, the participants met at La Martinerie in front of “la maison départementale de la mémoire militaire” for the laying of wreaths, in the presence of around fifteen flag bearers.
Concerned about the health of the participants, and in agreement with the president of the former Indrian legionnaires, the story of the Battle of Camerone took place within “la maison départementale de la mémoire militaire” where the voice of Eric Lambert, departmental president of the former legionnaires, resonated in an impressive and respectful silence.
“Les Amis de la Martinerie” sincerely thank all the participants, the authorities, the volunteers and the flag bearers who came to celebrate this day of remembrance.
