On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, “Amis de La Martinerie” (Friends of La Martinerie) had the pleasure of welcoming two Americans, Michaël and Kris Trueblood, following in the footsteps of Wesley E. Trueblood, for a tour of the rooms dedicated to the U.S. military presence in Châteauroux between 1951 and 1967.

Both were pleasantly surprised to also discover the history of U.S. armed forces in the Indre department from 1917 to 1919, specifically at La Martinerie, Châteauroux, Diors, Montierchaume, and the area around Issoudun.

Notably, Wesley E. Trueblood—Michaël’s brother was born at La Martinerie.
