The interns from the 222nd session of the IHEDN are visiting the “La Martinerie” base

Staying In Châteauroux from May 18th - 21st , 2021, the interns of the 222nd session of the ’Institut des Hautes Etudes de Défense Nationale (IHEDN - Institute of Advanced Studies in National Defence) visited “les Amis de La Martinerie” on Thursday, May 20th.

Following a presentation given by Jean-Jacques Bérenguier, president of “Les Amis de La Martinerie, Thursday morning, at the “Centre d’Etudes Supérieures” de Châteauroux about the birth, the life and the end of the “La Martinerie” base, Gil Avérous, president of Châteauroux Métropole (and member of “les Amis de La Martinerie”) discussed the zone revitalization process , the first contact with the administration and the financial aspect along with the relationships with the different buyers.

The final results (Exceptional and edifying) should be a praised and used as a model for 8 years only after the base was definitively shot down in 2020, the 740 acres left after the “517ème Régiment du Train”’s departure are now occupied.

This is an example of a successful collaboration between the government, the local administrations and the buyers of these plots.

The afternoon was dedicated to the visit of our association’s premises followed by a complete visit of the base, including the zone occupied by the “Centre National de Tir Sportif” where the interns were welcomed by Marc Ménnessier and Christophe Desfrançois, respectively director and vice director of the site.
