At our invitation, Mr Jean-Paul Obéllianne, “Directeur Académique des Services de l’Education Nationale” (DASEN, the local representative of the Secretary of Education) came to visit “La maison départementale de la mémoire militaire” on the “La Martinerie” site to learn more about our project of hosting middle school students in our association; a program already validated by his predecessor and experienced by Laurent Renaudet, a social studies teacher at the Beaulieu Middle School of Châteauroux.
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the work done by our association’s volunteers, with the support of the Region, the Department, Châteauroux Métropole and few local private companies, Mr Obéllianne confirmed that he will act as a key connection between the school principals, the local social studies teachers and our association to develop our proposition of welcoming 9th grade students within our group, as part of the “Parcours citoyen”.
Other topics were discussed during that visit, including receiving young adults as part of the “Service National Universel” (A one month compulsory service mandatory for all young citizens aiming to convey French values, to strengthen social cohesion and to promote social engagement).
